Phil Oblinger

Phil Oblinger.

Phil has always carried a love for drawing and art from drawing birds in Elementary school through sketching anatomy lessons in Medical school.  Always appreciative of fine art and particularly oil painting, his personal skills and interest lay dormant for many years.  He rediscovered his passion for painting a few years ago.  He has studied with renown Cincinnati artist Ron Johnson as well as Tennessee artist Roger Dale Brown.

Yet to declare any particular style he has done paintings in the Modernist, Impressionistic and realistic styles.  His painting influences include Ron Johnson, John Singer Sargent, Abbott Handerson Thayer, Bernard Buffet, Henry Faulkner, Kehinde Wiley and all the other Hog Bristle Painters.  He enjoys painting animals/pets, landscapes, still life, cityscapes, athletic/sporting and baseball scenes. He enjoys painting and learning with the Hog Bristle Painters (previously known as the Tuesday night painters) at the Barn in Mariemont.

He continues to enjoy full time practice in Emergency Medicine and entertaining his 2 granddaughters.  He has shown in several local shows and was the winner of the 2018 Mariemont “Paint-Out” National Exemplar award.
